Kroz citate iz The Oregoniana, Oregonlivea, Blazersedgea, Yahoo Sports i CBSSports dajemo kronologiju problema s Royevim koljenima. Usput bilježimo i kronologiju kraha jedne potencijalno sjajne karijere a s njom i krah jedne od najperspektivnijih mladih momčadi u NBA.
“Roy 365 days, seven days a week. Roy has no weaknesses in his game.”
Artest speculated Brandon Roy has an unpublicized back or knee injury: “I’ve played against Brandon Roy a lot of times. He wasn’t himself.”
After the game, Roy was reluctant to get real, dancing around questions about his body and his mindset. “It’s delicate,” Roy said of both subjects.
9/11 – Roy progovara
“I’m good. I’m playing. I’m just looking forward to getting those minutes down a little bit and continue to keep my legs for the entire season.
“That’s the plan: Get the minutes down, hopefully be more explosive, and everything works out.’’
“Does it concern me? Yeah,’’ Roy said. “I would love to play more minutes and have a much better body, but it’s just not the case, so I have to try and make the most of what it is. I had a phone call yesterday and in talking to a few people, it is somewhat of a reality check. This is what it is, and now you have to make the most of it.’’
“My body is what it is,” Roy said. “I mean, it feels pretty good, but it’s felt better. What I feel … there’s nothing magical that’s going to change. My body is good enough to go out there and play.”
“Are my most athletic days behind me? I’ll let you guess. I’ll let you take a lucky guess on that one. It’s time to adjust.”
13/11 – Blazers vs Hornets
Roy attempts to take Ariza off the dribble and tweaks his knee, leaving the game immediately. Back in the locker room, Roy was examined by New Orleans team doctor Matt McQueen, who determined his knee was stable but swollen. He asked Roy to perform basic movements, like squatting, but Roy said he couldn’t complete the movements without sharp, piercing pain in the left knee. The immediate plan is hazy. Both Roy and coach Nate McMillan said he will accompany the team today when it flies to Memphis, where it plays Tuesday, and general manager Rich Cho said the team will take a wait-and-see approach.
“We will see how he feels over the next couple of days and re-evaluate,” Cho said via text message late Saturday night.
17/11 – Objava za medije
“Brandon Roy’s MRI showed no significant change and no surgery is contemplated. He will miss the next two games vs. Denver and Utah and will be reevaluated in a week.”
18/11 – Woyo
Uvijek pouzdani Woynarowski daje nimalo ružičastu sliku uz izjave dva insajdera:
The guard will miss the next two games with soreness in his left knee – a knee that has grown worse and worse. There’s damage and deterioration, and two league sources with direct knowledge of the medical prognosis on Roy say his days as an NBA All-Star, a franchise player, are probably over.
“There’s no real hope of it improving,” one league source with direct knowledge of the medical prognosis told Yahoo! Sports on Wednesday. “It’s just about trying to manage it now. He’s not going to be the franchise superstar that [Portland] thought he would be. This isn’t something they consider ‘fixable.’
Another source privy to the discussions between Blazers management, Roy and the doctors, simply says: “It’s bad and it’s not getting better.”
Poderao mi se broj 7 na Blazers dresu tijekom hakla. Slučajnost?
